Opportunities to help New Mills Band

Volunteer roles
The Band is looking for people who can give a little of their time to help with administration. If you could help with events organisation or publicity or with fundraising or chairing meetings, we would love to hear from you.
*We particularly need a Treasurer, a role which takes about one or two hours a week*.
The role involves dealing with income from subscriptions, job payments, cash collections etc and outgoing payments such as hall rental, insurance, music and raffle prizes. The Treasurer also needs to attend monthly Committee meetings, prepare annual accounts, and deal with the annual Gift Aid Return to the charities commission.
If you have some experience of handling small budgets (ca £10,000), and can use the internet and spreadsheets, this could be a great way to support a community organisation. If you’d like to play in the band or learner band, all the better, but we won’t make you!

Storage Space
To make sure that everyone who wants to can play, the Band provides free instrument hire, music and uniforms to all members. This means we need somewhere to store spare stuff. Current arrangements are coming to an end so we are now looking for somewhere new: a secure dry shed or outbuilding, a spare room in a house, business premises or community venue.
We aren’t looking for a massive space…. 2.5m by 2.5m would probably do it. We do not need access very often and we could always give you 24 hours notice at least. We are covered under the band’s insurance.

If you can help us with any of these things, please contact Joyce@joycetyldesley.plus.com

In addition to its formal concerts the Band  performs at many local events and carnivals. It is one of the few bands which can undertake marching commitments.

We rehearse on Thursdays in St George's Parish Hall on Church Lane SK22 4NP- 6.30pm juniors and 7.15-9.30 main band. (Currently 7:30 - 9:00pm, due to change soon)

The members of the band all live locally and range in age from 'eight to eighty'! We are always looking for people to swell our ranks, especially in the cornet section.  Please complete the pro-forma below or alternatively, email the Band directly at newmillsband@gmail.com
